The Inspiration behind Marsco

My adult ADHD diagnosis came during a period of profound self-discovery that followed a mental health breakdown. While studying integrative counselling at college, I began to understand myself in ways I never had before.

For many years, my ADHD had gone unrecognised, and I was treated only with antidepressants, which failed to address the root cause of my struggles. Learning about ADHD didn’t cause my breakdown — it helped explain it.

As my understanding grew, I also realised that I am autistic, which is very common alongside ADHD. Research indicates that ADHD and autism overlap in around 50–70% of cases, and many adults only recognise the second neurotype once the first is identified. Although not a clinical diagnosis, this combined experience is often referred to as AuDHD, and it brought long-awaited clarity.

I enrolled in an Integrative Counselling course at the University of the Highlands and Islands, gaining valuable self-awareness, practical skills, and theoretical knowledge. After completing a Higher National Qualification over two years, I chose not to pursue the final year, as I wanted to offer a more holistic approach beyond traditional counselling. My goal was to provide not just support, but practical tools that clients could continue using long after coaching sessions ended.

To expand my expertise,

I qualified as a Health & Wellbeing Coach with Raw Horizons Academy, recognised by the NHS, and completed specialised training in Autism, ADHD Coaching, and Somatic Coaching. Somatic coaching supports clients to understand how stress and emotions show up in the body, helping them develop practical regulation tools that are especially beneficial for neurodivergent nervous systems. These qualifications equip me with the right strategies to effectively engage with clients, harness their strengths, and help them build lifelong skills. I am committed to continuous professional development and regularly undertake training focused on neurodiversity and mental wellbeing.

As a mother of three neurodivergent children with various diagnoses,

I understand firsthand the challenges and strengths that come with neurodiversity. Through my own ADHD coaching, I have learned to create a peaceful and supportive home, advocate for my children, and prioritise my own wellbeing.
